Confronting Racial Injustice

Start a Discussion:
As protests are held around the country and in our own communities, Anchor Youth Ministry would like to offer some talking points for your family.
  • To begin, it is important to acknowledge that racism "comes in many forms", including deliberate acts of hatred, subconscious prejudices, and institutional systems that "treat groups of people unjustly."
  • "Racism is a moral problem that requires a moral remedy—a transformation of the human heart—that impels us to act."
  • From the beginning, God created all of humanity in His image with equal dignity.
  • "All of us are in need of personal, ongoing conversion. Our churches, our civic and social institutions are in need of ongoing reform. If racism is confronted by addressing its causes and the injustice it produces, then healing can occur."
Quotes from:"Open Wide our Hearts," from the USCCB
