The Year 2 Confirmation Retreat Team is excited to announce that we will be having a Confirmation Retreat for your Year 2 Confirmation Candidate on March 3-6! It's called, DISCOVERY: a retreat about exploring faith. While this retreat won't be the same as in past years of going off-site and having overnight stays, the retreat team is excited and determined to help your  Confirmation Candidate have a personal encounter with Christ and a meaningful experience to help them prepare for their upcoming Sacrament of Confirmation!

The goal of DISCOVERY is to help them begin a faithful and lasting relationship with Jesus by recognizing how He works through the past, is present in the current moment, and provides hope for the future. God created the majesty of the universe with us in mind. He created us to be inquisitive explorers as we journey through life, examining ourselves and the world around us in fine detail. This fundamental instinct has sparked our interest in our world and the universe around us. As scientists learn more about the cosmos, we realize that there is infinitely more to know about God, who created it. However, before we discover new frontiers, we must understand where we are lifting off from. Discovery gives teens an opportunity to assess where they are at on their faith journey, while providing a catalyst to dive deeper into the great unknown that is a relationship with Jesus.

The retreat will start on Wednesday, March 3 at 7:15 PM (normal small group time and this will replace your small group time for this Wednesday) and will go until 9/9:30 PM at St. Cecilia. We will continue the retreat in the evenings of March 4 and 5 from 7:15 until 9/9:30 PM. We will have an optional fun activity Friday evening or Saturday morning, to be announced! Our last part of the retreat will be on Saturday, March 6 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at St. Cecilia. We will end with going to Mass at St. Cecilia at 5:00 PM, and students will be done with the retreat at the conclusion of Mass. We are still working on an optional fun activity that your Confirmation Candidate can partake in to get to know and bond with their peers and other candidates.

The retreat team and I would love for your Confirmation Candidate (year 2) to join us on the DISCOVERY Retreat March 3-6 either online or in-person, for the whole time or part of the time! We are here for them and want to help them have a personal encounter with Christ in preparation for their Sacrament of Confirmation they'll be receiving in a few months.

Please sign-up for the retreat at button below.

If your Confirmation Candidate is attending the retreat, we have a tradition with this retreat called Wheat Letters. A wheat letter is a letter expressing your support, affirmation and any inspiration for your Confirmation Candidate. It is a chance to tell them how much you love and care for them. It is a letter of your continued prayers for them. We collect the letters, keep them secret from the candidates, and then hand them out to them during the retreat. We are asking parents to send at least 5 letters for their Confirmation Candidate by March 1st to Kayla Greiner at to kgreiner@stceciliaparish.org or mail to 2900 Hoover Ames, IA 50010 (C/O Kayla Greiner). (Their Confirmation Retreat is March 3-6, letters distributed on March 5). Please see the attached document for more information about the wheat letters or please feel free to reach out to Kayla for more information! You can also submit wheat letters below.
